Next Generation Network Architecture (NGNA)

Scientific Atlanta’s Next Generation Network Architecture (NGNA) set-tops set the stage for next generation services, providing service providers with increased power, flexibility and security solutions.

These set-tops help enable expanded digital services and advanced interactive applications as service providers begin to deploy Next Generation Network Architectures in their systems.

Benefits of Scientific Atlanta’s NGNA set-top line include:

  • Designed for OpenCable Application Platform (OCAP), enabling cable operators to deploy a broad array of interactive applications on a standard platform, seamlessly, across multiple devices.
  • Equipped with a Multi-Stream CableCARD™ interface for a successful Separable Security transition.
  • Advanced DOCSIS Set-Top Gateway (ADSG), supporting CableLabs ADSG specification for transporting set-top command and control information over DOCSIS.
  • Support for Advanced Video Codecs (H.264), enabling operators to deliver content, including
on-demand, HDTV programming and Internet video content, with blockbuster-quality video while utilizing bandwidth-saving lower bit rates.
  • Processing power and connectivity with a home IP local area network (IP LAN) connection to enable advanced services, such as sharing of content with compatible operator devices as well as compatible retail-purchased consumer electronic devices.

Next generation set-tops include the 4500C/HDC™ series Standard-Definition or High-Definition CableCARD Set-Top and the 8500HDC™ series Standard-Definition or High-Definition Digital Video Recorder CableCARD Set-Top.
