Broadband Headend Maintenance
Certification Program
Level 1
Description
The Broadband Headend Maintenance Certification (BHMC) designation
demonstrates the Technician’s ability to configure the Headend
equipment and perform testing and monitoring of signal integrity, to
ensure that FCC and Signal Quality standards are met.
Level 1 Certification is earned by
passing a 2-hour written exam. The exam is available both online via
the Internet and in hard copy form. Potential candidates must pass
the written exam and earn Level 1 Certification prior to scheduling
the practical exam for Level 2 Certification.
To successfully pass the written
examination, candidates must obtain a minimum score of 70%.
Requirements
Prerequisites are not required for any candidate. However,
SciCare Training highly recommends attendance in the
Headend Technology, Operating a Headend Systems, and DBDS Headend
Maintenance courses. All three courses are conducted in an
interactive, instructor-led classroom format.
The certification requires
knowledge and skills in the use of Satellite receivers, Scramblers,
Controllers, Modulators, Stereo Encoders, RF Signal managers,
Optical transmitters and receivers, along with various pieces of
testing equipment.
